Abstract
Buerger¡¯s disease (thromboangiitis obliterans) is a nonatherosclerotic, segmental, inflammatory disease that most commonly affects the small and medium-sized arteries, veins, and nerves of the distal extremities. This disease is characterized by highly cellular and inflammatory occlusive thrombus with relative sparing of the blood vessel wall. Patients are mostly young tobacco smokers who present with distal extremity ischemia, ischemic ulcers or gangrene and these conditions cause superficial open wound frequently. For management of superficial open wound, not only conventional surgical methods just like split thickness skin grafting but also appropriate supportive dressing materials can be available for clinicians and are used for wound healing purposes. We report the case of managing 45 year-old female patient with Buerger¡¯s disease who had open wound on Rt. foot after amputation. To get optimal treatment, Healoderm dressing was applied before defect coverage with split thickness skin grafts.
